Why I’ve taken up Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

I was often a good tutor as a student, and when I onboard and train people at work they tend to take well to my approach.

Pedagogy and andragogy are very interesting fields to me—after all, I had taken up education in uni, before shifting to engineering.

It’s also a way to upskill in my current role. I have always been in content-focussed roles (I introduce myself to people as a technical writer, as that is my bread and butter.) Taking up this qualification is part of my foray into learning content.

How I’ll get feedback and support during this course

I am supported by my workplace, which permitted me to dedicate Thursdays to my in-person classes. I have also incorporated this course into my career learning goals.

I’m also supported by my husband, who works around my schedule and makes sure we are both supported at work, home, and in childcare for our toddler

Challenges I’m going to face

I might have conflicts in schedule, such as important work meetings on Thursdays, or just domestic obligations. That’s fine. My RTO and trainers are very supportive and understanding of life’s demands, and I can communicate how to work around such conflicts on a case-to-case basis.

How I’m managing my time

I am definitely spending less time on my phone! What a win! I also dedicate an hour each evening, after my son’s bedtime, to go through my tasks for the day, whether work- or course-related. It’s been working well.
